Local Loans

The loan service is reserved for institutional users of the library (students, professors, researchers, doctoral students, postdocs, linguistic experts, technical administrative staff and UPO Alumni).

Students and professors of other universities with which reciprocity agreements and / or conventions are in place are also admitted, subject to a letter of surety signed by a professor or researcher of the Department and addressed to the Library Manager.

To access the loan service, registration with the library is required.

You can borrow books:

  • for consultation in the room, with a loan at the information point
  • by reservation, requesting the volumes online through the catalogue and booking the day and time for collection

The library also offers textbooks for the Alexandria-based courses of Business Administration (DISEI) and Literature (DISUM).

 

How to book the loan of volumes from the BiblioUPO catalog

You can request the books and book at the same time the day and time of collection from the BiblioUPO portal, by accessing MyBiblio with your personal university credentials (red box "If you have an UPO account click here"), according to the following instructions:

Time needed for collection of books

Once you have booked the text from the catalogue, you have a set time within which you must come to the library to collect it, after this deadline the request is canceled:

  • Ordinary loan: withdrawal within 5 days of the loan request
  • Exam Texts Loan: collection same day or the day after the loan request

 

Loan duration, extension, booking

The duration of the loan changes according to the type of user and resources:

  • Students, University technical administrative staff, external users
    Maximum number of books on loan: 3
    Loan duration: 30 days with an extension of 15 days in the absence of reservation by other users.

  • Graduating students (including Master’s students, post-grad and advanced training students).
    Status as a "graduating" student must be certified by the thesis supervisor by email to biblioteca.digspes@uniupo.it or signature on the form available from the library
    Maximum number of books on loan: 6
    Loan duration:  30 days with an extension of 15 days in the absence of reservation by other users.

  • Professors and researchers from the University of Eastern Piedmont (including research fellows, research assistants, experts in the subject, and PhD students)
    Maximum number of books on loan: 8.
    Loan duration: 60 days with an extension of 30 days in the absence of reservation by other users.

 

 LOAN OF EXAM TEXTBOOKS:

  • the loan of exam textbooks for courses and / or seminars is daily and cannot be extended
  • the book you borrow on Friday can be returned the following Monday

 

Extension of the local loan

For books that are not exam textbookss, you can request the extension of the loan only once, by telephone or by e-mail, if the volume is not already booked by someone else.

Reservation of volumes already out on loan

If the document you would like is not available because it is already on loan to another user, you can reserve it, and then collect it within 3 working days from the moment availability of the book is communicated to you.

 

Return of books

You can return the volumes from Monday to Friday, directly in the library or using the red box in the atrium of Palazzo Borsalino, respecting the indicated loan deadlines.

If you find it difficult to return the books directly, let us know and we can arrange the return by post or courier with tracked shipping.

The less expensive solution with the Italian Post Office is the Registered Book Postal service

Works excluded from local loan

  • reference works (encyclopaedias, dictionaries, codices, works with COD or GIUR signature)

  • periodicals (G.Per. And P.Per signature)

  • volumes published before 1870

  • works in a bad state of conservation
