4 - Login details and use of University IT Services

STUDENT COMPUTER CREDENTIALS

The e-mail service is activated for all students enrolled at the University of Eastern Piedmont (Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale UPO). It is not necessary to submit any request.

At the end of the registration procedure, you will receive your ID number by email and you will have access to a mailbox that has the following address: yourIDnumber@studenti.uniupo.it

Until then, if you enrolled online, to enter the Student Portal, your username is: name.surname@esterni.uniupo.it (at the end of the enrolment phase it will take about an hour before you can authenticate)

To activate your UPO email you will need to access the site https://adss.uniupo.it/ and then

  • enter your ID number as a User
  • create a password with the following characteristics
    • length of at least 8 characters
    • it must contain lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers and special characters
    • it must not be the same as the last 3 passwords you used
    • it will have to be changed after 180 days
  • Click on the "Accesso" (login) button

If the password has been changed successfully, your status is "active" and you can access your mailbox (go to https://www.google.com/gmail/, enter as username IDnumber@studenti.uniupo.it and as password the "New password" you just created). Then follow the activation process until your institutional mailbox appears.

To change the password, reset it or restore it in case of loss, access the Password Management page 

You can access your mailbox directly from the Google homepage https://mail.google.com, or, even better, from https://mail.google.com/a/uniupo.it, moreover, like normal Gmail mailboxes, it can be consulted via the web from any device, using your own credentials (we do not recommend the use of Local Clients such as Outlook, Apple Mail, etc ...).

The mailbox has a capacity of at least 7 GB and is equipped with antivirus and antispam filter and a webchat is active which allows you to contact any one else@uniupo.it users or any@gmail.com users in audio / video mode.

Once the mailbox is activated, with the same credentials you will also be able to access:

• Student Portal (online services for students)

• UniUpo App (username: only the serial number)

• Access to PCs in the laboratories (UPO locations only)

• DIR Services (UPO Networked Education)

• Access to WI-FI networks

 

We remind you that the idnumber@studenti.uniupo.it is the only address recognized by the University for receiving and sending communications. This way you can ensure that any confidential data is not sent to strangers.

In addition, sending mail via the idnumber@studenti.uniupo.it allows the administration to identify you immediately, speeding up response times.

For questions related to your academic life, we will ONLY respond to requests from your institutional e-mail address. It is your duty as a student to check your e-mail box periodically for notices / communications regarding your teaching and administrative career.

 

ACCESS TO WI-FI NETWORKS

UNIUPOWIFI NETWORK

The Wi Fi wifi network for all UPO structures is: UNIUPOWIFI and the access methods are identical for all structures:

 

EDUROAM WI-FI NETWORK

With the same credentials it is also possible to access the EDUROAM WiFi NETWORK.
Eduroam (Education roaming) is a network which universities and research institutions join to create simple and secure access to wireless networks. Users who are at one of the participating institutions can use the local wireless network with the same credentials (username and password) as their home university, without further formalities at the host institution.

Students of the University of Eastern Piedmont can connect to the wireless network of the other participating institutions using their Uniupo credentials.

Instructions

  • Open your browser and navigate to cat.eduroam.org
  • At the bottom select "download your EDUROAM installer".
  • Search and select " Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale "
  • Select your operating system and download its installer. Please note, for iphone and ipad select "Apple IOS mobile devices"
  • Install and follow the instructions, you will be asked to enter your credentials. These must be entered in the form: matricola@studenti.uniupo.it

 

As an alternative you could download an app called eduroam cat.
