This course is open to all and lasts 3 years (full-time) or 4 or 6 years (part-time).

To obtain the degree you must achieve 180 academic credits (ECTS).

The course location and administrative offices are in Asti, Fabrizio De Andrè Area.

The Chair of the Course Council is Prof. Chiara Bertone.

The teacher responsible for course assessment and exams is Prof. Andrea Pogliano.

The course is suitable for those who intend to work as a social worker (subject to passing the State exam), for those who wish to continue their studies with the Master's Degree and finally for those who are interested in research in the field of Social Work.

The degree course in Social Work has a strongly interdisciplinary structure, with content in sociology, social work, psychology and law. It provides the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for the profession of social worker in the new integrated welfare system.

Goals

Based on the Didactic Regulations, and relative professional objectives, the new training project is based on a combination of the three core areas of the social worker profession:

  1. the values ​​inherent in the social service profession (why)
  2. professional knowledge (what)
  3. professional skills or skills (how).

In addition to the basic courses, an internship of 450 hours is envisaged in the three years of the course with tutoring – supervised by highly qualified professionals belonging to public and private organisations affiliated with the University.

There are also some professional workshops: professional writing and planning in the second year, innovation and social work in the third.

CLASS Library at the Asti branch: in addition to the Department Library, Social Service students can use a consultation and lending service at the Asti branch.

Graduates will be able to pursue employment as Social Workers in the social assistance sector, in public or private welfare structures:

    • national and multinational private organisations
    • non-governmental organisations, third sector organisations and businesses
    • administrations, governing bodies, national, supranational and international public organisations, and in particular: *
  • in local authorities
  • in socio-health consortiums
  • in drug addiction services
  • in mental health services
  • in the social services of the Ministry of Justice
  • in hospitals
  •  in social cooperatives of the third sector.
