Department

Responsibility for Research and Third Mission activities, as well as for their quality, lies with the Department Manager.

The Departments must guarantee a constant commitment to ongoing improvement of Research and Third Mission activity, in terms of aiming for results of ever greater value, setting objectives aligned with the best national and international standards.

It is the Department's task to define and implement the procedures to achieve these objectives, and monitor them periodically.

It is the responsibility of the Department Manager:

• to draft the SUA-RD report

• draw up the Departmental Three-Year Plan (definition of objectives, identification and implementation of actions that enable their achievement)

• monitor the achievement of the objectives themselves.

Review Team - Research

The Departmental Research Review Team comprises:

Single Annuale Report of Departmental Research (SUA-RD)

Single annual form of departmental research (SUA-RD)

The SUA-RD is a public database that can be consulted online, within which each Department provides information on its activities.

It outlines the Department's lines of Research and Third Mission activity, and is necessary for the Self-Assessment and Review, and for Periodic Evaluation and Accreditation.

The content of the SUA-RD is divided into three sections.

Part I - objectives, resources and management of the Department

• research objectives of the Departmental Management System

• human resources and infrastructure.

Part II - research results

• research output - Internationalisation

• teachers without research output for the academic year

• projects won through competitive tenders

• responsibility and research acknowledgments.

Part III - Third Mission

Contains information relating to the following activities:

• intellectual property and spin-offs

• third-party/partnership activity

• public engagement

• cultural heritage

• health and safety protection

• ongoing training

• brokerage structures.

For each of the objectives defined in Part I, an operational plan must identify:

actions to be taken, responsibility for achieving the goal, methods of achievement, necessary or assigned resources, definition of the indicator or indicators and corresponding objectives, deadlines for completion and/or any progress updates, associated risks.

A Research and Third Mission management system must also be defined which clearly identifies:

• the organisational structure of the Department

• research groups

• the Department's QA policy

• planning of the departmental research review activity.

The PQA, through the Support Office, ensures that all the data necessary for drafting the SUA-RD are provided.

SUA - RD 2013 and 2014

The attachments contain the department’s Single Annual Research Report  (SUA-RD) for 2013 and 2014.

The Board of Directors of ANVUR resolved, at the meeting of 18 May 2016, that the next SUA-RD survey would refer to the 2014-2016 three-year period, instead of the 2014-2015 two-year period as previously announced. The survey should have taken place starting from January 2017, with a deadline set in June 2017.
