Incoming Assessment Tests
Academic year 2021/2022
Law
The course is open to access; however, all those enrolling in the single-cycle master's degree course in Law will be required to undergo an evaluation test in order to verify their logic-interpretative skills. If the test is not passed, the student will be obliged to follow a remedial course to fulfil Additional Educational Requirements (OFA). These courses (30 hours), coordinated by a teacher for each course location, will aim to fill the gaps that emerged in the initial test. During the course of this course the student will be assisted by a tutor (4th or 5th year student) and will have to carry out intermediate verification tests. If at the end of the course all gaps have been remedied, specific remedial credits will be recognized and the student will be able to continue his studies on a regular basis; if he/she does not pass it, he will be obliged to repeat the incoming assessment test. Failure to pass the initial test does not preclude taking the first-year exams. However, it precludes access to exams from the second year onwards. This block on your academic progress will remain in place until the test is passed.
The test will take place on dates and in the manner published in this section during the year.
All enrolled students will find, in their electronic booklet, the 0 CFU logic-interpretative test (code GS0268 for the Alessandria centre and GS0313 for Novara), which will be provided by VOL or dispensed. Registration for the test will take place exclusively by booking the session relating to the aforementioned code, in the same way as registering for exams (see instructions in the link).
Those who have already undertaken a previous university course which ended (due to outgoing transfer, forfeiture, renunciation, passage, may request exemption from the test, together with the application for recognition of exams, to be submitted after enrolment. This exemption may be granted by the Evaluation Commission, considering the previous course of study on a case-by-case basis.
Those who do not pass the first round of the test, have not obtained exemption, or have not taken it, will be required to follow a 15-hour remedial course that will take place in each location, indicatively between the months of February and May and which will include an intermediate and a final test. Those who have not completed the remedial course in its entirety will not be able to participate in the final test. The methods of delivery of the course will be indicated on this page.
Those who have not passed the test at the end of the course will not be able to take the second-year exams until they have settled their OFA position, either by re-attending the course or by retrying the test in the first round scheduled for the new students of the next academic year.
Students enrolled for the first time in the 1st year of the course must also take an English Language Placement Test. This test, although mandatory, is not binding for the purposes of access to the courses.
If the student already holds a language certificate and needs more information about the test, visit the page Evaluation of level of English language.
